While in Boston for the 66th Annual Conference of the American Translators Association last week, I had the honor of being interviewed by my colleague, mentor, and friend Rony Gao on the Chinese Language Division Podcast.

We traced my professional journey of starting out as a translator, branching out into subtitling, and going back to school at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey in 2024 to start a new chapter of my career as a conference interpreter.

More important, I highlighted a watershed moment in my personal growth in 2022, when I decided to step out of my comfort zone and give me first presentation at the 63rd Annual Conference in Los Angeles. If you're curious about my story, give this episode a listen.

My huge thanks go to Rony and another dear friend, Jessie Liu, who hosts the podcast and produced this episode. Her deft editing of the interview recording itself shows how brilliant interpreters process messages in ways that cut out the fluff and keep the narrative clear and focused.
