I'm delighted to share that I have been approved as a Pre-Candidate of the International Association of Conference Interpreters (AIIC). To achieve this status, I needed to collect signatures from three AIIC members to attest that I work as a professional conference interpreter.

Since my graduation from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey last May, I have had the privilege of interpreting at the Chinese Embassy, U.S. Capitol, Library of Congress, and various think tanks for government officials, business leaders, and senior researchers. I have also provided interpretation for several online meetings, including one where I had to battle time difference to be ready to give my best performance at 2:30 in the morning. Later this February, I'm looking forward to my first assignment outside of the Washington D.C. area as I travel to Florida.

AIIC's emphasis on professionalism resonates strongly with how I approach my work. Becoming a pre-candidate is a meaningful first step for this new professional journey I'm embarking on. My sincere thanks go to my dear colleagues and mentors for their enduring support, and I look forward to continuing providing high-quality interpretation for my current and future clients.
