Announcement: I Am Now Certified by the American Translators Association!

Dear Friends,

Last month, I sat for a three-hour exam in Alexandria, VA to be certified by the American Translators Association. The ATA is the largest professional association of translators and interpreters in the United States. With an overall pass rate below 20 percent, an ATA certification is highly regarded in the field as an authoritative testament to a translator's professional skills.

With great pride and happiness, I want to share with you the wonderful news that I'm now officially an ATA-certified English-Chinese translator. At the beginning of this year, the first full year in my exciting and frightening journey as a full-time translator, I set two professional goals for myself: become a registered court interpreter with the Maryland Courts and become ATA-certified. I accomplished both on my first try.

And what does this mean for you?

If you have already entrusted me with your translation projects, please allow me to express my sincere gratitude for your trust in and appreciation for my skills even when I didn't have much to show on paper. You keep me grounded when things get scary by reaffirming I'm good at what I do. I hope we may continue to strengthen our partnership.

If you are a prospective client in need of English-Chinese translation services, I hope my credentials will help make your decision an easy one. With a background in international relations, I capably serve many clients: nonprofits, government agencies, and individual authors. I've translated research reports, lecture transcripts, advocacy materials, and many other journalistic, nonfiction writing. I welcome you to join my network of happy and satisfied clients.

As always, I look forward to advancing your mission through the art, craft, and science of words.

Sincerely,

Sijin Xian
